A tribute to Japan’s golden age of elegance

A hotel that blends Japanese heritage with refined Western detail in the heart of Osaka.
Set along Osaka’s famed Midosuji boulevard, lined with ginkgo trees, The St. Regis Hotel draws on the spirit of the Momoyama period. It was a time marked by openness, cultural exchange and artistic flourishing, offering a rich foundation for the hotel’s narrative. GA Design shaped the interiors as a journey from moonlight to sunlight, expressed through materiality, light and architectural rhythm.
Guests arrive through an entrance hall of silver leaf, bronze and dark marble, anchored by a sculptural crystal tree. This softly lit moment gives way to brighter, sunlit spaces that reveal expansive views of the city and the hotel’s private Japanese garden.

GA's design balances Japanese cultural references with Western architectural expression. Reception and lounge spaces reflect the warmth and clarity of the sun, with limestone floors and walls that recall historic Japanese construction. High coffered ceilings and bespoke chandeliers introduce grandeur, while framed views of nature bring stillness to the experience.

The St. Regis Bar
The St. Regis Bar is conceived as a richly layered environment with deep turquoise panelling, blue tiger’s eye stone and lacquered finishes. A commissioned mural sits behind the bar, revealing subtle references to Osaka Castle and imagined celestial motifs. Japanese influences appear in tsuba-inspired handles and display cabinetry, bringing clarity and intention to the scheme.

Suites
The character of the main suites is born from a chosen Japanese plant that influences each individual colour scheme and suite name; Fuji (Wisteria), Hanashobu (Iris), Yuri (Lily). These exclusive rooms are further enhanced by marble fireplaces, painted timber panelled walls, and feature artwork display shelving in the living areas, paying homage to the heritage of the original St. Regis Hotel, New York.
