A grand residence shaped by light and landscape
A hotel that celebrates its setting with refined simplicity and uninterrupted views.
Palace Hotel Tokyo stands opposite the Otemon gate of the Imperial Palace, offering a rare connection to one of the city’s most treasured landscapes. GA Design imagined the hotel as a grand residence where light, greenery and serenity guide the experience from the moment
guests arrive. The design reflects the calm of the gardens outside, with a palette of soft greens and natural tones that echo the surrounding scenery. Every aspect of the interior is shaped to honour the hotel’s views while bringing a sense of balance to its public spaces.

Approach
The design enhances the interplay between interior and exterior. Floor-to-ceiling glass creates the impression of stepping directly into the Imperial Palace gardens, reinforcing the hotel’s close relationship with its setting. A gallery that stretches the length of the ground floor leads to a dramatic picture window overlooking the Wadakuribori moat. Here, a hand-selected maple tree becomes the focal point, chosen for its elegant form and capacity to mature alongside the hotel.

Throughout the property, small framed views mimic traditional Japanese landscape composition. Soft colours, natural materials and generous space planning contribute to an atmosphere of calm and quiet sophistication.

The Royal Bar

Honouring the hotel’s history, the bar reinstates the original design principles with restored materials, glass cabinets and soft lighting that creates a warm, elegant glow.
A celebration of tea
The grand glass tea house stands as a centrepiece, offering a collection of rare teas by day and transforming into a champagne bar by night.
