Reimagining a landmark for modern hospitality
In Brussels’ historic heart, the 1910 Grand Hotel Astoria is reborn as Corinthia Brussels.
GA restored its legacy while elevating it for a new era of luxury travel, where heritage, craft and guest experience are inseparable. A former Belle Époque icon stood untouched for over a decade.
The ambition: to transform the Corinthia into a modern five-star destination without losing its soul, carefully balancing operator needs, investor expectations and cultural responsibility.

GA approached the hotel as both a cultural artefact and a living hospitality environment. The team retained and restored significant architectural features, including mouldings, stained glass and signature metalwork, while introducing modern interventions that complement the building’s scale and character. Each public space was treated as a chapter in a larger narrative, blending local influences, contemporary craft and a measured sense of luxury.
In the Palm Court, historical elements were paired with crystal chandeliers, green marble and silk upholstery to bring new energy to the heart of the hotel. The restaurant adopts a palette drawn from the Royal Park, while Under the Stairs highlights Brussels' Art Nouveau heritage through its use of metalwork, mirrored surfaces, and bespoke lighting. Guestrooms and suites were crafted with calm tonal palettes and artworks by Belgian artists. The penthouse was designed as a retreat for notable guests, inspired by the depth and restraint of the Belgian masters.

Spa x Sisley

Corinthia spa x Sisley offers a serene retreat, drawing on the local lace making tradition of "Our Ladies of the Snow". Calming tones, brass accents, and a dramatic stone staircase lead to the thermal spa, creating a modern sanctuary of relaxation.

The project repositions Corinthia Brussels as a flagship destination for the city, strengthening its presence in the luxury hospitality market. The restored interiors elevate guest experience while respecting the building’s heritage, offering spaces that feel calm, welcoming and unmistakably of Brussels. Each area supports operational needs without compromising elegance or authenticity.
The renewed identity of the hotel is already shaping its role within the city’s cultural and commercial landscape, providing Corinthia with a benchmark for future developments.
