A destination shaped to redefine contemporary luxury Logo

A resort designed to challenge convention and create a new language of experiential luxury.

Atlantis The Royal marks a new chapter in Dubai’s hospitality landscape. GA crafted an experience that celebrates imagination, artistry and the elemental power of water, bringing design and storytelling together at a scale rarely seen.

The resort demanded an approach that blended technical excellence with narrative clarity. GA created a coherent design story that resolved immense planning complexity while ensuring every space felt connected, fluid and visually compelling.

Approach

Water shaped the central narrative. Drawing inspiration from the Bedouin tribes who navigated the desert by wells and seasonal rains, GA developed a conceptual framework that explored water not just in its liquid state, but in its reflective and weightless forms. This idea informed the architecture of movement and pause throughout the resort.

Public spaces were choreographed to create a sequence of water-based moments, from sculptural installations to reflective surfaces that shift with light. The Destination Stair captures the idea of weightlessness, while the resort’s many features celebrate water as a rare and vital presence within the desert landscape. The design connects guests to a sense of renewal, energy and discovery at every stage of their journey.

Droplets

Standing 11.5 meters tall and crafted from 5.5 tonnes of stainless steel, Droplets is the striking centerpiece of Atlantis The Royal’s lobby. Designed, conceptualised, and modelled by G.A Group, the sculpture symbolises the first drop of rain in a desert, embodying renewal and complementing the resort’s cascading waterfalls and trickling pools. Each smooth, hand-pounded droplet - originally a flat steel sheet - was meticulously shaped and attached to a central ‘tree’ using a crane, creating a dramatic stacked effect. First modeled in 3D and then handcrafted, this engineering marvel took a year to complete, blending artistry with precision craftsmanship

Jellyfish Aquarium at Resonance Bar

Atlantis The Royal’s jellyfish aquarium is one of the biggest in the world and can be found in Resonance bar by Heston Blumenthal. At seven metres deep and holding 63,000 litres of water, the aquarium is home to 4,000 Moon jellyfish (Aurelia Aurita) that have been bred at Atlantis, The Palm by a specialist team of aquarists within the resorts’ fish hospital. One unique aspect of the jellyfish aquarium is its kreisel (cylindrical) shape and flow. This ensures the jellyfish are suspended weightlessly in the middle of aquarium and do not touch the sides.

Atlantis The Royal’s three fish aquariums can be found in the main lobby of the resort. Home to 7,200 marine animals and 32 species, guests can see a vast variety of tropical fish, including purple tangs, lookdown fish and surgeon fish. The aquarium is managed by a team of hundreds of aquarists who maintain the aquariums and care for the marine animals across Atlantis, The Palm and Atlantis The Royal.

Designed as an artistic interpretation of natural life in the middle of the desert, the three lobby aquariums at Atlantis TheRoyal are very much the differentiating factor between the lobbies of both resorts. Atlantis The Royal’s aquariums use unique LED screen technology to create a dynamic light play between the resident fish and silhouettes to create constant movement of schooling fish and dappled sunlight.

Guestrooms & Suites

The theme of each guestroom and suite continues the connection with water but in a more refined and abstract way. From the soft lines of the sofa, to the undulating blues and turquoise of the carpet, guests are gently enveloped by the water theme. Each room category moves through this water theme to become more dramatic, the higher up the building guests go. From the gentle blues of the Seascape room, to the shimmering pearls of a Horizon Penthouse, all the way up to the dramatic hues of orange and red coral coloured walls of the Panoramic Penthouse.
