Park Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur

A sense of place in the sky

A sense of place in the sky Logo

A landmark hotel that brings Malaysian heritage and intimacy to Asia-Pacific’s tallest tower.

Located within Merdeka 118, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur reinterprets luxury through a distinctly local lens. Set high above one of the nation’s most historic sites, the design balances quiet sophistication with cultural tactility, using natural materials, filtered light and considered craft to make a monumental setting feel personal.

Rather than emphasising height or spectacle, the hotel is conceived as a familiar place in the sky, grounded in memory, material and human scale.

The design responds to the challenge of creating warmth and identity within a vertical glass tower. Drawing inspiration from the Malay rumah panggung, a traditional elevated home organised around verandas and communal spaces, the hotel is imagined as a vertical residence.

Timber, woven textures, batik-inspired brass fretwork and references to songket are distilled and reinterpreted with restraint, allowing heritage to inform the experience without overwhelming it. The result is a contemporary expression of Malaysian culture that feels calm, layered and enduring.

Arrival and Public Spaces

Guests ascend to a timber-lined serambi on Level 3, where pivoting shutters soften daylight, and brass detailing creates a sense of enclosure and warmth. The journey culminates on Level 75, where reception and social spaces form the porch of the house.

Here, double-height batik-inspired brass screens filter light across stone and timber surfaces, while expansive windows frame sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur. Dining venues, including Park Lounge, Merdeka Grill, and Cacao Bar, are integrated into this level, each distinct yet united by a shared design language.

Guestrooms and Suites

Guestrooms and suites are conceived as private sanctuaries above the city. Daybeds set against full-height windows echo the idea of a veranda, while screens and shutters allow fluid transitions between living and bathing spaces. Textural details and bespoke elements, including a batik-patterned minibar, add quiet moments of refinement.
